The Fansly record
Updated · reviewed by a human
What Fansly's own Help Center says, in its own words, about AI content, identity verification, impersonation, and enforcement. Its Terms of Service page itself still could not be read for this record.
Not if it's photorealistic, and Fansly says so in its own words. Its Help Center article 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' states 'Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly,' and that 'labeling content as AI-generated does not make photorealistic or lifelike AI content permissible.'
The article quotes Fansly's Terms of Service, which list three things users will not do without Fansly's express prior written authorization: post photorealistic or lifelike AI content (deepfakes and face-swaps included), run AI systems that interact with users directly to generate personalized responses, or pass AI-generated material off as authentic human work.
A non-photorealistic virtual persona can apply, but the person behind it must register under their actual legal identity and verify with a real government-issued ID. The often-repeated June 2025 start date for the ban still traces only to a single analyst brief; Fansly's own text doesn't date it.
AI and synthetic content
Drawn from Fansly's own Help Center. Three items quote Fansly's Terms of Service as Fansly reproduces them in that article; the Terms page itself did not render for this registry's tools.
- Fansly's own Help Center states the rule in one line: photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on the platform. In the platform's own words: “Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Disclosure does not make it acceptable. Fansly says labelling photorealistic or lifelike AI content as AI does not make it permissible, the opposite of Fanvue's disclose-and-allow model. In the platform's own words: “labeling content as AI-generated does not make photorealistic or lifelike AI content permissible” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- The Help Center article quotes Fansly's Terms of Service, which list photorealistic or lifelike AI content, expressly including deepfakes and face-swaps, among things users will not post without Fansly's express prior written authorization. The Terms page itself still did not render for this registry's tools; this is the Terms text as Fansly quotes it on its own Help Center. In the platform's own words: “photorealistic or lifelike content that is substantially generated or created through artificial intelligence, including deepfakes, face-swapped content, or synthetic media designed to appear as real humans” Source: Fansly Terms of Service, as quoted in Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- The same quoted Terms clause also covers AI systems that interact with users directly to generate personalized responses, imagery or experiences without human oversight. In effect it reaches unsupervised AI chat as well as AI images. In the platform's own words: “content where artificial intelligence systems directly interact with Users to generate personalized responses” Source: Fansly Terms of Service, as quoted in Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- The quoted Terms clause also bars passing AI-generated work off as genuine human performance. In the platform's own words: “any content that misrepresents AI-generated material as authentic human performance or creation” Source: Fansly Terms of Service, as quoted in Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- A non-photorealistic virtual persona can apply to be a Fansly creator, but the person behind it must register under their actual legal identity and pass the standard verification process with a real government-issued ID. In the platform's own words: “Complete the standard verification process with your real government-issued ID” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- AI content that sexualises minors is banned outright. In the platform's own words: “AI-generated content depicting minors in sexual or suggestive contexts is strictly prohibited.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- The ban itself is now documented in Fansly's own words (above). Its often-repeated start date, around June 2025, still traces only to a single named analyst brief, which does not cite a Fansly announcement, so the date is recorded as reported, not documented. In the platform's own words: “Fansly's June 2025 ban on photorealistic AI content” Source: Sacra research brief, Jan-Erik Asplund, Jan 21 2026 — reported, not documented; no Fansly announcement cited · observed 2026-10-27
- A separate, more sweeping claim — that a Fansly staff member confirmed on Reddit that AI content is prohibited under any circumstances — circulated via uncredited SEO blogs during this research. It could not be authenticated (no verifiable identity or employment for the poster) and is not used as a source anywhere in this record. Fansly's own Help Center now covers the substance in narrower form: photorealistic AI is barred, while non-photorealistic virtual personas may apply. Identity and age verification
Drawn from Fansly's own Help Center, plus a 2023 case study published by its verification vendor, Ondato.
- Fansly's own Help Center confirms Ondato as its creator identity and age-verification partner. This record previously had only Ondato's own marketing page for that. In the platform's own words: “You’ll verify your identity and age through our trusted partner, Ondato.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'How to Apply to be a Creator on Fansly' (page dated Aug 5, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Creator applicants submit the front and back of a government-issued photo ID, a photo of themselves holding the ID and a handwritten sign with their legal name, and a short video holding both with their face visible. In the platform's own words: “A short video of you holding both the ID and the sign, with your face clearly visible” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'How to Apply to be a Creator on Fansly' (page dated Aug 5, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Creators must be at least 18 and of legal age in their country. In the platform's own words: “You must be at least 18 years old and of legal age in your country.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'How to Apply to be a Creator on Fansly' (page dated Aug 5, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Fansly does have a co-performer rule, which this record previously could not locate: anyone in a creator's content who is not a verified Fansly creator must provide signed consent documents. In the platform's own words: “For anyone who is not a verified creator, signed consent documents are mandatory. No exceptions.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'How to Verify and Publish Content Featuring Others on Fansly' (page dated Sept 18, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Collaborative content may be published only after Fansly approves the co-performer verification. The same article says tagging someone is not consent, and that each collaborator needs separate documentation. In the platform's own words: “You may publish the content only after receiving approval.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'How to Verify and Publish Content Featuring Others on Fansly' (page dated Sept 18, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Fansly also age-checks viewers in countries it lists as requiring age verification (the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil and Germany): a live selfie checked by Ondato, with a government ID upload if Ondato needs more assurance. In the platform's own words: “If Ondato requires extra assurance, you may be asked to upload a government-issued ID” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'Global Age Verification Requirement' (page dated May 19, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- In the U.S. states Fansly lists as having passed age-verification laws, users are prompted to verify their age, again through Ondato. In the platform's own words: “Age verification is completed by our industry-leading KYC partner, Ondato.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'U.S. Age Verification Requirement' (page dated July 20, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- Fansly's identity and age verification is handled by third-party vendor Ondato, per a case study Ondato published about the partnership. The case study quotes a Fansly representative directly on the onboarding experience. In the platform's own words: “Thanks to the partnership with Ondato, we’ve successfully streamlined our application process, creating a faster onboarding experience for our creators.” Source: Ondato case study, published Sept 13 2023 — vendor's own marketing page, contains a direct Fansly quote · observed 2026-10-27
- Ondato describes the verification flow it says it built for Fansly: a liveness check, spoof-detection, a biometric age estimate, and document checks only when the automated result is in doubt. This is the vendor's own framing of its product, not an independent Fansly confirmation of these exact steps, and it dates to the partnership's 2023 launch era — not a confirmed description of Fansly's current process. Impersonation and likeness
Drawn from Fansly's own Help Center.
- Fansly's AI policy bars creators from impersonating any individual or entity, real or fictional, without clear, explicit consent. In the platform's own words: “Creators must never impersonate another individual or entity” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' (page dated July 8, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27
- For fake profiles impersonating a creator, Fansly's Help Center points to on-platform reporting, and says it offers creators a complimentary DMCA takedown service for impersonation issues. In the platform's own words: “Offering a complimentary DMCA takedown service to help creators address impersonation issues.” Source: Fansly Help Center — 'Someone Has Stolen My Identity' (page dated Jan 12, 2026) · observed 2026-10-27

Change log
Dated policy changes we have documented — from the platform's own announcements or named press. Policies change; this log records what we have seen, when.
- Sep 13, 2023 — Ondato, Fansly's identity-verification vendor, published a case study about the partnership, including a direct Fansly quote about the onboarding experience. Source: Ondato case study
- June 2025 (reported) — Fansly is reported, by a single named analyst brief, to have banned photorealistic AI-generated content. No primary Fansly announcement has been located to confirm the date — this registry treats it as reported, not documented.
- Jan 21, 2026 — Sacra published the research brief citing the reported June 2025 AI ban, as part of a broader analysis of the AI-creator economy.
- Jul 8, 2026 — Fansly's Help Center article 'AI Generated Content on Fansly' carries this date. It says photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed and quotes the Terms of Service clause behind the rule. The page doesn't say whether the date marks first publication or a later update.
- 2026-09-03 — Record opened — policies as observed on this date. This is the thinnest of VerifiedHer's three platform records: Fansly publishes little policy text publicly, and this page documents what is confirmed versus merely repeated online.
- Sep 18, 2026 — Fansly's Help Center article on verifying co-performers carries this date. It says signed consent documents are mandatory for anyone in a creator's content who is not a verified creator, and that such content may be published only after approval.
- 2026-10-27 — Re-reviewed. Fansly's Help Center, which blocked automated access in the original pass, could now be read. The AI ban, creator and viewer verification, the co-performer rule, impersonation reporting and report-review timelines are now documented in Fansly's own words. Fansly's Terms of Service page itself still did not render for this registry's tools, and the June 2025 start date for the AI ban is still reported, not documented.
Quick answers
Does Fansly allow AI-generated content?
Not if it's photorealistic. Fansly's own Help Center says 'Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly,' and that labelling such content as AI doesn't make it permissible. Non-photorealistic virtual personas can apply, but the person behind them must register under their real legal identity and verify with a government-issued ID. The often-cited June 2025 start date still traces only to a single analyst brief.
How does Fansly verify creators' identity and age?
Through its partner Ondato, per Fansly's own Help Center. Applicants submit the front and back of a government-issued photo ID, a photo of themselves holding the ID and a handwritten sign with their legal name, and a short video holding both with their face visible. Creators must be at least 18 and of legal age in their country.
Does Fansly require consent from other people who appear in a creator's content?
Yes. Fansly's Help Center says signed consent documents are mandatory for anyone who isn't a verified Fansly creator ('No exceptions'), that each collaborator needs separate documentation, and that the content may be published only after Fansly approves it.
How does Fansly handle impersonation and AI fakes?
Fansly's AI policy says creators must never impersonate another individual or entity, real or fictional, without clear, explicit consent. Impersonating profiles can be reported on the platform, and Fansly says it offers creators a complimentary DMCA takedown service for impersonation. Its intimate-imagery takedown policy explicitly covers deepfakes and AI-generated depictions, with action in most cases within 48 hours.
Does Fansly have a creator appeals process?
None was found in Fansly's own Help Center in this review. Fansly documents how reports are handled: review within five business days, and immediate action, up to removal, when a violation is confirmed. But no creator-facing appeal route or appeal window was located. Fansly's footer links a 'Complaint Process' page that didn't render for this registry's tools.
Why does this record quote Fansly's Help Center rather than its Terms?
Fansly's Terms of Service and complaints pages still load only as client-rendered JavaScript that this registry's tools cannot read. Its Help Center does load, and its AI article quotes the Terms' AI clause directly, so that is the source cited here.
This page records published platform policy as observed on the dates shown. It is a documentation record, not legal advice, and VerifiedHer is not affiliated with any platform documented here. Corrections: corrections & removals →
