Katie Thurston
Yes — Katie Thurston is a real person, documented in the public record.
Katie Thurston is a real, publicly documented person, not an AI persona.
A bank marketing manager from Lynnwood, Washington, she first appeared as a contestant on Season 25 of "The Bachelor" (Matt James's season), then was announced in March 2021 as the lead of "The Bachelorette" Season 17, which aired on ABC that summer.
She later returned to Bachelor Nation with a stand-up comedy appearance on "Bachelor in Paradise" and was announced as the lead of The CW's "FBoy Island" Season 3 in 2023. She married comedian Jeff Arcuri in March 2025; the couple met in 2024 and got engaged that September.
Around the same time, Thurston publicly shared on her own Instagram that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and has since used her platform — including a self-started "Boobie Broadcast" channel — to talk openly about screening and treatment, work covered by outlets including ABC News and People.
Her official ABC cast materials, Wikipedia's sourced season articles, an IMDb filmography, and named-byline press from outlets like The Hollywood Reporter and ABC News corroborate her story.
Her verified Instagram and TikTok accounts both use the handle @thekatiethurston, a chain worth following to weed out fan pages and lookalike handles that circulate under her name — a common target given how often Bachelor Nation alumni are impersonated in fan-facing scams.
